An editorial writer and author, Karen Spears Zacharias writes extensively on matters of faith, family, politics and social issues. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, USA Today, Washington Post, Newsweek, National Public Radio, Relevant Magazine, Christianity Today, HomeLife and Power for Living.
Karen is a vocal advocate for veterans and military families. Her father was killed-in-action, Vietnam, 1966. She serves on the national advisory board for the Vietnam Women’s Memorial Foundation, and for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Education Center, along with Retired Army General Barry McCaffrey and General Colin Powell.
Karen was the writer-in-residence for Fairhope Center for the Arts, Fairhope, Alabama and the Carson McCullers Center, Columbus, Ga. She is a contributing blogger at Patheos.com. She serves as an adjunct professor of journalism at Central Washington University.
