I made a quick trip to Charlotte yesterday to pick up Lois who flew in from Seattle for a short visit. She’s more a North Carolinian than I am since her Dad’s family is from around these parts. Since she’d taken the red eye in we slept off the foggy morning and woke to sunshine.
We ate lunch at the bakery in Southern Pines & then walked around town. Saw a t-shirt in the window of a kiddie shop that I loved.
“Brother for Sale. $1.00.”
I know three girls who would have looked so cute in that shirt about 20 years ago.
Later as I was driving the neighborhoood we came across a sign that March Madness had set in.
Yep. That’s a basketball and net in that front yard. Pretty sweet, huh?
Then there was the fellow sitting on the hood of his car outside Starbucks working on his laptop, facing the afternoon sun, and the little girl with the multi-colored hair pretties eating the ice cream from a cup with the multi-colored sprinkles as her mama got her car washed. I’d have taken a photo of them but it would have been an invasion of privacy. Lois, however, poised for this one.
Off to the beach today. Wanna come?
